Two North Staffordshire businesses have joined forces to ensure companies can open up safely following Covid-19 closures.
Water safety experts at SAS Water have worked with Health and Safety company, BPA Safety. to offer a joined up approach for companies, such as holiday parks and hotels, who have been closed for many months.
Leek-based Legionnaires’ Disease specialists SAS Water have many years of experience of supporting the hotel, spa and leisure sector.
Managing Director Lizzie Ward. approached Darren Bedson, MD of BPA Safety, with offices in Stoke, to expand its service offer.
The companies have so far worked at seven holiday lodge parks across East Anglia, Cornwall and Devon, Sussex and Gloucestershire.
Lizzie said: “Our work portfolio includes holiday parks across England and Wales so it makes sense to offer them a holistic approach to health and safety. BPA Safety is led by Darren Bedson who is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Health and Safety, the highest possible qualification. Darren and his team have carried-out many Covid-19 risk assessments, enabling companies to reopen safely following lockdown.
“SAS Water is accredited by the Legionella Control Association to carry out water safety work. We work with a wide variety of industry sectors and one of our specialisms is working in the holiday sector as they often have spa pools and hot tubs which are a known Legionnaires’ Disease risk.”
The companies provided site compliance packs for each park. The packs included regimes for compliance across areas including fire, electricity, gas, visitor admissions, legionella, hot tub safety, cleaning procedures. use of PPE and customer safety in reception areas.
Darren Bedson added: “We’re confident of the high standards offered by SAS Water and we we’re delighted when Lizzie approached us about working together. This initial work has been on luxury lodge holiday parks, but it could be replicated across all business sectors. BPA work with the motor industry, factories and building companies and all have water management needs.
“Every business is required to have a risk assessment where it has been closed due to Coronavirus lockdowns and this includes inspection and testing of all buildings’ water systems. All companies must have competent advice on Legionella risks and SAS Water is our ideal partner to supply these services. The Health and Safety Executive is currently carrying-out spot checks and companies could face prosecution if they’ve failed to properly risk assess coronavirus safety.”
