All building owners must guard against legionella bacteria in the water supply.
But even our health services aren’t immune to issues, as a case in Romford, Essex demonstrates.
Local newspaper, the Romford Recorder reported that Hornchurch Medical Centre took a decision to close its doors after legionella bacteria was found in the water supply.
The North East London Clinical Commissioning Group (NEL CCG) announced the Billet Lane centre’s closure on Saturday (May 14). It said bacteria was found during a routine test of the water supply.
Fortunately, the CCG said they were not aware that anyone had contracted the disease.
